Utah was the first place women voted in the U.S., and the first state to elect a female state senator. Who were these women? And what were the conditions that made these political firsts possible? This presentation will explore the women and men who established Utah as an incubator for women’s advocacy in the 19th century and will ask how we can regain that energy in the 21st. Neylan McBaine is the co-founder and CEO of Better Days 2020, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of women first voting in Utah and the centennial of the 19th Amendment.
