On January 1, 2023, Jonathan Lee Walton became the 8th (and first African American) president of the renowned Princeton Theological Seminary. Prior to becoming president of Princeton Seminary, Dr. Walton served as the Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister in the Memorial Church at Harvard University and as dean of the Divinity School at Wake Forest University.
Walton has published widely across various academic journals, magazines, and newspapers. He is the author of two books—A Lens of Love: Reading the Bible in Its World for Our World (Westminster John Knox Press) and Watch This! The Ethics and Aesthetics of Black Televangelism (NYU Press). Dr. Walton’s insights have been featured in the New York Times, CNN, Time magazine, and PBS.
