Dr. Bloechl will present remarks entitled “A Love Stronger Than Death: Exercises in Philosophical Interpretation.”

 

Jeffrey Bloechlis Associate Professor of Philosophy at Boston College and Honorary Professor of Philosophy at the Australian Catholic University. He has taught in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, India, Italy, and Lithuania. His teaching and research concentrate on contemporary European thought, Christian theology, and Christian philosophy. He is the founding series editor of Levinas Studies: An Annual Review and Thresholds in Philosophy and Theology. He currently has research interests in the hermeneutics of Christianity, the anthropology of suffering, and special problems in the phenomenology of religious practice. Dr. Bloechl’s recent publications include his articles Inventions of Christianity as well as Theological Terms in Philosophy of Levinas. He received a BA and an MA in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America and an MPhil, a second MA, and a Ph.D. from Katholieke Universiteit te Leuven(Belgium). He and his wife, Catherine Cornille, have three children.
