Daniel Milton recently returned to BYU after spending 12 years working for the U.S. Department of Defense. He started working at the United States Military Academy in 2013, where he was the Director of Research of the Combating Terrorism Center. After West Point, he then worked at the George C. Marshall European Center from 2024–2025 for Security Studies as the Academic Advisor of the Program on Terrorism and Security Studies. During his career, he engaged with government and non-government partners on the subject of terrorism and political violence, including Facebook, Google, the New York Police Department, U.S. Special Forces Groups, U.S. Special Operations units, conventional military units, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division, and the FBI’s High Value Interrogation Group. He is currently a visiting professor in the Department of Political Science.
