Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier, a member of the senior Foreign Service, recently retired after serving as the US Ambassador to Kosovo. He spent much of his 31-year career in the European/Eurasian region with a focus on security issues. While serving at the OSCE he was part of the Rambouillet Process, was lead negotiator for the Bucharest Ministerial under Article VI, and served on the team negotiating Kosovo’s status led by UN Special Envoy Martin Ahtissari. He has served in postings at the NSC, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, and in South Serbia, Montenegro, and Zagreb, as well as with NATO, Germany, Greece, Panama, Paraguay, and Peru. He was Charge d’Affairs at the US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy to Germany.
