Over the past year, political leadership in the United Kingdom has changed dramatically: most visibly, Queen Elizabeth II has been succeeded by her son King Charles III. More significantly, Prime Minister Boris Johnson lost his job and was replaced as PM by Liz Truss and then by Rishi Sunak. In both cases, the politics of race has been apparent—and not in ways that Americans might expect. How will those transitions change the future of the UK? What do they say about the role of race and class in Britain today? Join us for a discussion with Prof. Joel Selway, a biracial British citizen and BYU political scientist who specializes in the politics of ethnicity.
