Join the BYU Department of Geological Sciences for the 2025 Quey Hebrew Lecture, presented by Dr. Barry Bickmore.
Science teachers often lament that if only their students understood the nature of science and how science and religion relate, they would not be so resistant to learning about scientific theories that potentially conflict with their beliefs. In this presentation, Prof. Barry Bickmore (Brigham Young University, Geological Sciences) explains why science teachers so often fail to reach some of their students when addressing these issues. He then describes how his “Science as Storytelling” program helps students gain a more realistic understanding of the nature of science and the science-religion interface, allowing them to relax and learn with much less discomfort.
Refreshments will be served following the presentation.
