Brittany E. Wilson, associate professor of New Testament at Duke University Divinity School, will present the 2022 Ancient Scripture Visiting Scholar Lecture, “The Body of God: Divine Anthropomorphism in the New Testament.”
Dr. Wilson will explore the question, “Does God have a body in the New Testament?” By focusing on how the New Testament characterizes God as an embodied being with recognizably “human” body parts, Wilson will argue that a key effect of this language is to imagine God as a divine “person” whose identity overlaps with the person of Jesus.
