Professor Carolyn Osiek, RSCJ presents the keynote lecture for the Symposium on Material Culture and Women's Religious Experience in Antiquity:
“Between the Holy and the Ordinary: Women’s Lives in Early Christianity”
According to Paul in 1 Corinthians, "For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy." How did early Christians, women and men, understand and apply this and other scriptures in their daily lives? Professor Carolyn Osiek will take us back to the earliest days of Christianity and the roles women played.
Professor Carolyn Osiek, RSCJ is the Charles Fischer Professor of New Testament Emerita, Brite Divinity School.
