The Islamic World Today: Issues and Perspectives

Monday, October 18 - Tuesday, October 19
Hinckley Center - Assembly Hall

Islam is second only to Christianity as the largest religion in the world. In an effort to better understand our Muslim neighbors and their faith, BYU is sponsoring a two-day conference to provide an introduction to the key aspects of Islam. Fourteen distinguished American scholars of Islam will explain its traditions and practices, as well as why understanding Islam is essential to being an informed citizen today. A few of the topics include “Women and Gender in the Islamic World,” "The Qur’An Hadith and Historical Origins” and “Perceptions of Islam in the West.”

The conference is free, open to the public and offers in-person and live-streamed options.
