Dale Gunn-Lawton joined the Church’s International Affairs Office in New York City in 2024, representing the Church and Latter-day Saint Charities to the UN, international NGOs, and religious umbrella organizations. He previously served 20 years as a US diplomat, including as Spokesperson and Public Affairs Counselor at the US Embassy in Havana and in posts across the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Before his diplomatic career, he worked in the nonprofit sector improving candidate conduct in US political campaigns. Dale holds a BA in Near Eastern Studies from BYU Kennedy Center and a master’s and PhD from the University of Virginia, and he was an Arabic Language Fulbright Fellow in Jordan.
