Contrary to what you may hear, diplomacy careers are viable. Also, learn about the Consular Cone, regional issues, and how bringing a JD to the Foreign Service creates opportunities. Come to this Ask Me Anything event with Joey Leavitt to learn more.

Joey Leavitt is a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State serving as the Non-immigrant Visa Chief at the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador. He has completed overseas tours in Abu Dhabi and India as a consular manager, in Saudi Arabia reporting on political and economic issues, and in Jordan assessing Arabic-language media themes and outlets. Joey also served in Washington DC as a liaison between the State Department and the intelligence community. He studied Arabic for a year in Syria as an undergrad on his way to a BA in Middle East Studies/Arabic and later a law degree JD from BYU.

Sponsored by the Kennedy Center's Foreign Service Student Organization.
