Law and Family Lecture Series: Raffia Arshad

Raffia Arshad is a family law barrister, author, lecturer and motivational speaker. Since 2004, Arshad has practiced family law at St. Mary’s Law Chambers in the UK, with a specialized focus in Sharia Law. Her practices within Sharia Law include financial remedy, private law and children, forced marriage, and public law children cases. Arshad was awarded Young Lawyer of the Year in 2009 and later authored and published Islamic Family Law in 2010, which is currently the leading textbook throughout the world dealing with Islamic family law. Arshad received her B.A. in Law/Accounting and Finance from Oxford Brookes University, an LLM in International Law from the University of Leeds, a PG diploma from the Oxford Brookes University, and a diploma in Islamic Jurisprudence from the Markfield Institute of Higher Education.
