Wellness Week is a week-long event that focuses on learning about and improving to the holistic wellness of everyone on campus. There will be workshops and lectures about the different domains of wellness (financial, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional) throughout the week to better help the students and faculty/staff understand the importance of these domains.
This presentation will be given by Benjamin Bikman. The title of his presentation will be "Why do we get sick?: The Metabolic Origins of Chronic Disease."
Bikman earned his Ph.D. in Bioenergetics and was a postdoctoral fellow with the Duke-National University of Singapore in metabolic disorders. Currently, his professional focus as a scientist and professor at BYU is to better understand the role of elevated insulin and nutrient metabolism in regulating obesity, diabetes, and dementia.
