Last day General Accounting will accrue liabilities related to goods and services received in 2018 but recorded as a 2019 voucher in the Accountants Payable system to individual Operating Units as December transactions. After this date, Financial Services will prepare and post an accrued liability journal entry (both PO and Fast Track related) to record all other goods or services received in 2018 but not invoiced or paid until 2019 to a high level operating unit that will not affect individual campus operating units. Campus units should not create their own December journal entries to accrue liabilities at year-end. However you may want to track anticipated expenditures and compare your list to the journal entries created by Accounts Payable. Any significant differences should be communicated to Ben Wake, ben_wake@byu.edu, C-249 ASB, ext. 2-9766. Other significant unaccrued liabilities that come to your attention after the second close through the end of the audit (March 15th) should also be communicated to Ben. If it is necessary for these expenditures/liabilities to be recorded in your Operating Units please coordinate with Ben.
