In the early 19th century, sailors from the United States of America sailed as pirates under the banner of foreign countries in South America. Come listen to Dr. Tyson Reeder of BYU's History Department talk about how these “republican pirates” challenged empires in the South Atlantic.

This is the keynote lecture at the 15th Río de la Plata Workshop.

Sponsored by the Kennedy Center's Latin American Studies Program, the History Department, and the College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences.
