Judd Birdsall explores England as a case study in covenantal pluralism—a relational, principled framework for engaging deep religious diversity. Despite maintaining an established church and Christian privileges, England also cultivates the conditions that sustain pluralism: religious liberty, religious literacy, and neighborly solidarity. The presentation will examine how the Church of England’s evolving role and inclusive ethos create new opportunities to foster a shared vision of the common good in an era of growing secularization and diversity.
Judd Birdsall is assistant professor of the practice in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Georgetown University, where he is also a senior fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs.
