Jesus taught “blessed are the peacemakers,” a message that President Nelson has repeatedly emphasized. What resources do Latter-day Saints have to become peacemakers in a world divided by conflict? If world peace seems too distant an aspiration, how can individual peacemakers transform conflicts in their own lives and communities?
Patrick Mason is a professor of religious studies and history at Utah State University, where he holds the Leonard J. Arrington Chair of Mormon History and Culture. He is the author or editor of several books, including most recently Proclaim Peace: The Restoration’s Answer to an Age of Conflict, co-authored with David Pulsipher. He is a founding member and faculty advisory board member of the Heravi Peace Institute at USU and co-host of the podcast “Proclaim Peace.”
